Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The stats of an item are improved by upgrading it, also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment increases the stat linearly.

Players can recycle up to six items at once to gain an ability to gauge the level of each of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling items scales depending on their rarity and level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade item of an item can be a method to boost the stats of your armor and weapons. This can be done through various methods that include the use of upgrade components and also increasing an item's mark level or rarity. A lot of items can be reforged to boost their stats.

There are items that can be upgraded throughout the game. They are available all over all over the world, as well as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. The primary method to upgrade equipment is through the use of upgrade components, which are items that can be inserted into equipment. Most equipment comes with upgrade slots, and most require a certain upgrade level. Some upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while others offer general bonuses.

There are several types of upgrade components available in the game, including universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gems and enchantments, are able to be placed in any kind of equipment and offer fewer bonuses than those that are type specific. Glyphs can only be placed in gathering tools and offer numerous bonuses, ranging from increasing the speed of an item's gathering to providing additional crafting materials.

Select the item in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. The preview will be displayed on the right-hand side of the screen. It will display the expected stats after the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will show Blocked if you don't have enough of either.

The upper-right corner shows the number of upgrade components required to create a particular item. The cost of an upgrade increases depending on the upgrade level and rarity, but can be reduced through various ways, such as purchasing upgrades from a vendor or trading them to other players.

Nearly all weapons can be upgraded with a prefix upgrade for example, an insignia or a rune, and many can be upgraded using suffix upgrades. These upgrades include an adjective in the item's name for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".

Glyphs

Glyphs are an effective instrument for communicating visual information. They animate in order to draw the attention of the viewer and spark curiosity. The animation of glyphs resembles the body language, making them more effective in conveying an inter-linguistic message. Glyphs can also trigger a feeling of familiarity in the brain, increasing retention of the message.

Each glyph increases a stat's value by a certain range. This is clearly displayed on the item when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is not the actual amount at which the glyph will increase a stat, but the maximum amount it is able to do so. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and the quality of the item you're enchanting it to.

The majority of upgrade components installed into items cannot be removed or replaced without dismantling them except for legendary upgrades and equipment. However, if you have a non-useful rune or glyph that has not yet been applied to your equipment, you can transfer it to a different piece of equipment by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu within the Glyphs panel. This will create the new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.

You can remove the glyph using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item will be destroyed within which it is placed however, you can salvage the upgraded item using the glyph and its shards, therefore, it shouldn't be considered as a loss.

If you take an item off after putting a glyph on it, the shards of the glyph will vanish. You can also place an inscription to your equipment to increase its value. For example, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and deal it slowly instead of all at once. This is helpful for players who are taking many hits from enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens let players alter the affixes they use on their weapons and equipment, and can be found through a variety of methods, including in mistery boxes or as rare drops from skulled creatures, or by killing bosses. Each reroll token grants players a new random affix, which is usually superior to the one they had before. Reroll tokens can also be used to improve the weapon's stats to increase damage or bonuses.

Rerolled items don't appear on the menu for item upgrades, but they are still able to be upgraded. These rerolled items are able to be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the layout of the item window and allows up to six items to recycle. The level gauge is increased by recycling an item. The amount is determined based on the item's rarity as well as its level. Therefore, items that are higher level are more valuable for recycling than items with lower levels.

Players can also use Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to roll rerolling Weapon Traits for upgraded units. A reroll will roll the % chance of a particular weapon trait; if it rolls higher, the weapon will be upgraded, and if it is lower, the weapon remains the same. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.

Rerolling is a fantastic option to upgrade an item. However, players must be aware that the total ilvl is reduced by the number the rerolls required to bring it to the final level. This is evident on Diadems and Rings, as they have no other options to raise the ilvl.

Players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It's better to allow people to pay for it with cash or food items which would allow players to make changes to their builds without spending excessive amounts of time. However, paid rerolls are not something the developers are planning to implement at this time in the game's development. Instead, they're planning add an option to change the race in the future.

Leveling

There are several ways to upgrade an item upgrader kit. The first is to increase the upgrade amount which boosts the upgrade value of a given stat. The second option is to boost the impact of the upgrade, which can increase damage or healing for an individual stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. Once this is done, the new item upgrades will maintain its iLevel but it will benefit from the upgrade effects of the upgraded item type.

It is important to keep in mind that upgrades can be random. In most cases, a better roll will come from the glyphs, but there are also possibilities for more or unique rolls. The item type will also determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a rare or unique item to a special Best item upgrader type, then it has a chance of receiving a higher level.

Upgrades to items can be costly especially when you're upgrading a piece of equipment from a standard to the legendary track. The price will be based on the item's iLevel base and the amount of upgrade levels it has. Some upgrade tracks also require crests to be completed in order to move on to the next level.

If you're lucky the upgraded item will be at the highest level on its upgrade track and unlock an additional benefit. This will provide the item with a significant upgrade items value. The bonus effect changes with each upgrade level. Generally speaking the effect of upgrading is increased by a number of +3.

The iLevel also changes in accordance with the item's upgrade path and its base level. For instance an item upgraded from being a rare or unique item to an outstanding one can be expected to gain the enhanced defense of the new base item.
