1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They have motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature a feature called carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it spots a lot of dirt on the carpet in order to get it clean quickly.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a good value for those whose home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work or going to school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

It also did a great job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms that had various flooring types, such as certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky models of the rivals. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's also the only robot automatic vacuum and mop/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work or during the night when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however it's more expensive and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum mop cleaner robot and mop. It has a range of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dry mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to the amount of dirt they are.

If you own a larger home, it's worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to tell the robot vacuum that vacuums and mops which area of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice command. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. Also the recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to organize the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also gives access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
